Ant 101 Research Paper

FINAL RESEARCH PAPERINTRODUCTIONThe world has been and will always be an extremely diverse place when speaking in terms of the cultures of different humans around the world. Through the study of anthropology, one can delve into what makes each of these cultures unique in their own way. Because every anthropologist comes from a culture or population of their own, there needs to be an established standard from which one can examine culture from. This is accomplished through the concept ofcultural relativism. Cultural relativism can be described as developing an understanding of cultural practices through the eyes of those who live these experiences every day. Consistently viewing cultures from your own perspective—also known as emic—could damage your understanding of the culture by bringing in a biased point of view without even realizing it. In order to demonstrate your understanding of the adaptive nature of culture, you will prepare a research paper that requires you to think about what people are doing, why they are doing what they do, and how it ties in with their environment. In this paper you will be comparing and contrasting one of the following topics in three cultures (other than your own), providing an analysis of the similarities and differences, and an explanation of why these differences might exist. In your rough draft you selected a topic from the following list: Body Art and Ornamentation Child Rearing Practices Healthcare practices The use of music or dance as a form of political protest/music or dance as a reflection of cultural...
